![]() We had a culture of helping each other (norming) but there was a lack of trust in the group so even though tasks were delegated (Performing) other team members took it upon their selves to do tasks that didn’t belong to them, which disrupted the team dynamic (Tool, 2020). In working in my team, I found that we were stuck between the norming and performing stages. Tuckman talks about the 5 stages a team has to go through to perform and in special cases even Adjourn. Planning meeting time was a hard task as everyone has different priorities in life, but the task was still being carried out even with that element missing. Work was distributed and the lines of communication was clear, a group chat was set up. For the integrity of the task, team members took on other roles to gain a final product (Belbin, 2020). There were a few team leaders in the group, one being myself, which was not ideal for the team dynamic as there was a power struggle within the group initially. It’s not a secret that everyone dislikes working in groups as it brings out people’s natural characters. Teamwork means that people will try to cooperate, using their individual skills and providing constructive feedback, despite any personal conflict between individuals.’ (Dictionary, 2020). The business dictionary describes group work as ‘the process of working collaboratively with a group of people in order to achieve a goal. A collection of ideas and a shared understanding is what makes an idea come to life, something tangible that can be seen my the masses. Sometimes we may think that our own individual idea can sort out a puzzle but it doesn’t mean that idea is the best. ![]()
